Step-by-step Instructions
- Open a Crafting Table to access the 3×3 grid.
- Place ingredients exactly as shown in the grid (shape matters unless marked shapeless) then move the resulting Torch to your inventory.
- Use, place, or craft further with your new item.

Coal: Mine coal ore; one coal smelts up to 8 items in a furnace.

Stick: Craft from two planks stacked; also drops from leaf decay.

Fun Fact
In the early days of Minecraft, torches were planned to burn out over time, requiring players to replace them. This feature was never implemented.
