Minecraft Pixel Art Generator

Turn any image into Minecraft blocks. This free tool maps each pixel to the closest block color from your chosen palette (Wool, Concrete, Terracotta, or a full mix) and lets you export a crisp grid PNG, a block count CSV, or a minimal .schem file for WorldEdit/Litematica.

Supports Java and Bedrock palettes, optional palette-aware dithering for smoother gradients, and quick zoom and pan for inspection. Upload an image below to get started.

What is this Minecraft Pixel Art Generator?

This free tool converts any PNG or JPG into buildable Minecraft pixel art. It maps each image pixel to the closest block color from your chosen palette (Wool, Concrete, Terracotta, or a full mix), and gives you a clear grid to follow in-game. You can adjust brightness and saturation, enable palette-aware dithering for smoother gradients, and export a high-resolution grid PNG, a block count list, or a minimal Sponge.schem file you can place with WorldEdit or Litematica.

How it works

  1. Upload an image and choose an output size (e.g., 64×64).
  2. Select a block palette and tweak color settings if needed.
  3. Generate to preview; use the built-in zoom and pan to inspect blocks.
  4. Export your preferred format: PNG grid, block list (CSV), or schematic.

Supported palettes

Pick a limited resource set (Wool/Concrete/Terracotta) or use Full variety for the best color match across many blocks. Java and Bedrock editions are supported; we continually refine palette colors to better match in-game appearance.

Java vs Bedrock

Both editions are supported. Some blocks render differently between editions; if a color looks slightly off, try switching the Edition toggle or adjusting brightness/saturation.

Exports and building

  • PNG (grid, HD): a crisp 16 px per tile image with a thin grid, great for printing or viewing on a second monitor while you build.
  • Block list: CSV of block counts so you can gather materials before you start.
  • .schem: Sponge Schematic v2 export (Version=2, palette-based; Java 1.13+ block IDs). It's a single flat layer (Length=1), no entities. Imports cleanly in WorldEdit/FAWE on Spigot/Paper/Sponge and on Fabric/Forge. Litematica's native format is .litematic; some builds can import .schem, but if it doesn't, use the conversion steps below.

Schematic format & Litematica

This tool writes a minimal Sponge Schematic v2 (.schem): Version=2, Width/Height/Length, a namespaced block Palette, and BlockData referencing the palette. It targets Java 1.13+ block IDs (e.g., minecraft:white_concrete). It has one layer (Z=1), suitable for front-facing pixel art, and omits entities/block entities.

Prefer .litematic export if you use Litematica — it's the mod's native format and imports without conversion.

Works with: WorldEdit and FAWE (Spigot/Paper/Sponge), WorldEdit for Fabric/Forge, and editors like Amulet. Litematica: its native format is .litematic. Some versions can import Sponge .schem, but if import fails, do one of these:

  1. Paste the .schem with WorldEdit in a test world, then in Litematica make a selection around it and Save Schematic to .litematic.
  2. Convert .schem → .litematic with Amulet Editor (or another converter), then load the result in Litematica.

If you'd like a native .litematic export here, let us know — we can add it alongside .schem.

Tips for best results

  • Start with 64×64 for logos and sprites; use 96×96+ for photos or detailed art.
  • Enable palette dithering for smoother gradients; disable for flat, logo-like styles.
  • Use the hover readout to see exact (x, y) and block id of any tile.
  • Prefer Concrete for bold colors; Terracotta for muted tones; Wool for a survival-friendly palette.

Importing schematics

Download the .schem and import with WorldEdit or Litematica. The schematic is a single-layer front-facing build; rotate or offset as needed, then trace block-by-block.
