How to Find Sulfur Caves in Minecraft Bedrock
Sulfur caves are the geothermal underground biome from Chaos Cubed — yellow sulfur, red cinnabar, toxic pools, and Sulfur Cubes. On Bedrock, the fastest survival clue is a sulfur spring on the surface.
Survival: Find a yellow bubbling sulfur spring → dig a staircase beside it → look for sulfur/cinnabar cave walls.
/locate biome sulfur_caves
Cheats required. If needed try minecraft:sulfur_caves. New chunks only after the update.
1. Spot sulfur springs on the surface
Sulfur springs can appear in normal Overworld biomes — plains, forest, snow, desert, etc. From a hill or mountain, scan for:
- Bright yellow sulfur around a small pool
- Red cinnabar accents nearby
- Bubbling water, steam, or rising gas particles
- Different sizes (small through extra-large)
The spring is your landmark: a sulfur cave is typically underneath or very close. Mark the coordinates (open the map / write them down) before you dig.
2. Dig beside the spring (don’t dive in)
- Stand a few blocks next to the pool — gas and water apply Nausea.
- Dig a staircase or 2×1 shaft downward (safer than mining straight down through the center).
- Watch for a color shift to yellow sulfur / red cinnabar and open cave space — you’ve entered the biome.
- Light the entrance before fully exploring (torch / lantern).
You can also find sulfur caves by exploring normal caves and mining sideways until the stone turns yellow/red — slower, but fine if you’re already underground for ores.
3. Bedrock locate command (cheats)
Fastest method on creative worlds, test copies, or any world with cheats enabled:
- World settings → turn Cheats on (or make a copy of your survival world with cheats).
- Open chat and run:
/locate biome sulfur_caves
Alternate ID if needed: /locate biome minecraft:sulfur_caves
Bedrock returns coordinates for the nearest match. Walk there or teleport with /tp. On the surface above those coords, still look for a sulfur spring before digging.
No cheats? Use a seed map / biome finder that supports your Bedrock version and filter for sulfur caves, then travel to those chunk coords in survival.

FAQ
How do you find sulfur caves in Minecraft Bedrock?
Explore the Overworld surface for sulfur springs — yellow bubbling pools with sulfur and cinnabar blocks. Dig down beside the spring (not straight through the toxic water). With cheats on, use /locate biome sulfur_caves (or minecraft:sulfur_caves).
What do sulfur springs look like on Bedrock?
Bright yellow sulfur blocks around a bubbling pool, often with red cinnabar nearby and gas/steam particles. Springs come in several sizes. Standing in the gas or toxic water gives Nausea — don’t linger in the pool.
Are sulfur caves in Bedrock Edition yet?
Sulfur caves are part of the Chaos Cubed / 26.2 game drop. On Bedrock they appear in Preview/Beta first, then full release. Update Minecraft and generate new chunks — old terrain usually will not retrofit the biome.
What is the locate command for sulfur caves on Bedrock?
Enable cheats, open chat, and run: /locate biome sulfur_caves. If that fails, try /locate biome minecraft:sulfur_caves. Travel or /tp to the coordinates returned.
What mobs and blocks are in sulfur caves?
Expect yellow sulfur and red cinnabar blocks (plus variants), sulfur spikes, sulfur pools with Nausea gas, and Sulfur Cubes — slime-like mobs that can absorb blocks and change how they move.
Why can’t I find sulfur caves in my world?
Your version may not include Chaos Cubed yet, or you’re searching already-generated chunks from before the update. Travel far into new terrain, confirm you’re on a build that has sulfur caves, or use /locate with cheats on a copy of the world.
Do sulfur caves generate under every sulfur spring?
Sulfur springs are the best surface clue and usually mark a sulfur cave below or nearby. Dig a safe staircase beside the spring and scout for yellow/red blocks rather than dropping through the pool.
