How to Enable Cheats & Experiments on Bedrock
Cheats unlock commands like /tp and /locate. Experiments unlock unfinished Mojang features — often required for preview biomes and some addons.
Worlds list → pencil → Game → Cheats On. For experiments: Experiments tab → toggle features → create/save. Cheats usually lock achievements for that world.
Enable cheats
New world
- Create New World → Game.
- Turn Cheats on. Read the achievements warning.
- Create the world. Hosts can use the pause menu command bar immediately.
Existing world
- From the main menu worlds list, tap the pencil icon (don’t enter the world first if the UI blocks edits).
- Game → activate Cheats → confirm.
- Save / play. Open chat and try
/gamemode cor/tp ~ ~10 ~.
Enable experiments
- World settings → Experiments (sometimes under Advanced).
- Toggle only what you need (beta APIs, upcoming game drop, education features, etc.).
- Prefer enabling experiments before first generation when hunting new biomes or structures.
- Create the world. Existing chunks won’t always retrofit new biomes.
Preview/beta builds expose more toggles than stable. If a YouTube seed needs “Drop 3” / dappled forest, you likely need Preview + the matching experiment — not stable Chaos Cubed alone.
Realms and hosted worlds
- Realm owners control cheats and member permissions.
- Experimental packs on Realms still usually need the Replace World flow.
- Guests without permission can’t run cheat commands even if the world has cheats on.

FAQ
Does turning on cheats disable achievements?
Yes on Bedrock — once cheats are enabled for that world, achievements/trophies for that world are typically locked. Make a copy if you still want a clean achievement run.
Can I enable cheats on an existing survival world?
Yes. Edit the world (pencil) → Game → activate Cheats. You may need to confirm the achievements warning. On some consoles the world must not be actively hosted as a multiplayer session while you toggle it.
Do experiments change world generation forever?
Many experimental features only apply to newly generated chunks or require a new world. Read the toggle description — Drop / vacation experiments often need a fresh world to see new biomes.
Why can’t I use /locate even with cheats on?
Cheats must be on and you need operator permission (host usually has it). On Realms, the owner must allow cheats and grant you permission.
Experiments vs Marketplace addons?
Experiments are Mojang feature toggles. Addons are content packs. Some addons require specific experiments (especially beta APIs). Enable those before generating the world when the pack says so.
