About this seed
The Outcasts’ 1.8 showcase is a textbook “soft landing” seed: you spawn on top of a village with an abandoned mineshaft already intersecting the area. That combination solves the three early-game bottlenecks of the 1.8 meta — shelter, food, and underground access — without a long hike.
Claim a villager bed and farm plots first so nights are safe. The mineshaft then becomes your mining highway: rails, oak planks, chests with rails/melon seeds/iron, and cave spider spawners if you want an early string farm. Because the shaft is spawn-local, you can duck back to the village every time inventory fills, cook food at a village furnace, and expand a trading hall while you strip the mineshaft for iron and coal.
Good first-day plan: • Secure a house + bed in the village; plant wheat from chests or farmland. • Light the village paths so zombies do not siege your starter base. • Find the mineshaft entrance near spawn and place torches as you go — cave spiders hit hard in 1.8. • Haul rails back to the surface for a cart line between village storage and the shaft. • Once iron is stable, branch into a proper strip mine or ravine from the mineshaft tunnels.
